Description
I took a short walk along the shore Eagle Lake just to get away and get some fresh air and quiet. While walking the shoreline near Pikes Point, I came across this red tailed hawk perched on a rock in the nice golden hour light. The wonderful raptor was kind enough to sit there and watch me as I walked past it to the best side for the sunlight and waited while I switched lenses and grabbed a few frames. In fact, It sat there so long with me fairly close that I was beginning to wonder if the it was hurt or something before it finally flew away into the evening breeze.
It was definitely the sort of moment that serves to remind me why getting out in nature is so wonderful and it lifted my spirits in a moment when they really needed a lift.

such a wonderful shot, Mike, and it must have been an exhilarating experience for you too. Who knows? maybe animals (and including birds) sense it? I know my cat does but I know nothing about birds though I have always loved birds of prey and somehow think they are more intuitive??
