Sunrise behind Dedication Island at Antelope Lake in Plumas County, Northern California, USA.
Antelope Lake is a small man made reservoir with about 15 miles of shoreline that sits about 5000 feet above sea level. It was created in 1964 when a 113 foot tall earthen dam was built on Indian Creek. It is a very popular recreation spot in the summer for everything from water skiers to anglers after trout, bass, and crappy. With many sheltered coves and a great deal of aquatic vegetation it serves as habitat for aquatic birds like western grebes, various ducks, and white pelicans, just to name a few. Osprey, bald eagles, and other birds of prey are also a common sight.
Dedication Island is a small island very near the dam on which is small plaque commemorating the construction of the reservoir.
