Description
This image was captured very early on a mid-March morning in Lassen County, California, USA. The highway in the foreground is US 395 at a small ridge known as Bass Hill. The mountain in the background is Thompson Peak, which can be seen in a number of my images as I’m truly blessed to live at its base. The star of the show, of course, is the core of our amazing galaxy, the Milky Way, as it rose in the southeastern sky.
This image is a blend of a series of long exposures to create the light streaks on the highway as cars went over the hill and several shorter exposures for the sky that were blended to reduce digital “noise” and create a clean image.

This is really a stunning sky. How lucky you are to see the Milky Way so bright and alive. Lovely capture.

Amazing long exposure photography with excellent postprocessing technique to blend the cosmic light display with the the artificial one. It's interesting to see how things appear to move in different timescales in the universe! l/f
