Description
While walking along the trails of the Table Mountain Ecological Reserve in Butte County California with my lovely bride this lone oak atop a little hill caught my eye in the late morning light. The light was a bit harsh for visible light photography so I was armed with my full spectrum modified camera and an 830 nanometer “deep infrared” filter. The bright mid-day sun is perfect for infrared photography and spring deciduous foliage, full of chlorophyll, really reflects infrared light wonderfully. The result is a bit of a surreal, minimalistic image.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
