Description
This image was captured on the Bizz Johnson Trail, near Susanville California, USA on a gorgeous, drizzly mid-October morning. This bridge is about two miles east of the Devil’s Corral Trailhead and one of many that help hikers, bikers, and horseback riders cross the Susan River as they move up and down the trail. On this particular morning it was quite inviting as it was flanked in wonderful fall colors.
The Bizz Johnson Trail is a long defunct railroad grade along the river that is now part of the Rails to Trails network where such grades are turned in to hiking and biking trails. It runs over 20 miles from Susanville California to Westwood California through some gorgeous scenery including this area known as the Susan River Canyon. Thousands of members of the Lassen County, California community use the trail for exercise, fishing access, and just enjoying nature each year.
