Description
I captured this image at about 9PM on a late May evening while I was camped at Wayfarer’s State Park in Big Fork Montana. I liked the way the quiet dock extended out into Flathead Lake under the moody clouds.
Flathead Lake is a remnant of the massive Lake Missoula, a glacially dammed lake of the Earth’s most recent inter-glacial period. The lake is about 27 miles long and 15 miles wide at its widest with depths to 370 feet. It is a popular destination for all manner of water sports enthusiasts as well as anglers, largely targeting the large Lake Trout (AKA mackinaw) that live in the lake’s depths.
