This image captures four horses at The Dreamcatcher wild horse sanctuary in Lassen County California, USA. According to the nice lady who runs the sanctuary when she saw my social media post, these animals were originally part of the famous Gila Herd from Arizona and were temporarily in this field to keep them safe from wildfires that were still ravaging the region when this shot was captured. As the horses have been rounded up before and have apparently become somewhat accustomed to closer approaches by humans, they weren’t quite as skittish of my presence as others I’ve seen around the area. These 4 were on a mission to get to a small pond nearby for a drink.
First of all, thank you for stopping by my little gallery. Whether you're a fellow artist, potential buyer, or a casual observer, I'm glad something made you want to take a look at my work. I've appreciated fine photography of all types for as long as I remember. I suspect it is at least partially hereditary as my parents met while each was involved in photographic pursuits for the US Navy (mom in the darkroom and dad in the field). Since my first instant film camera as an adolescent, I've always had a passion for photography and a real appreciation for what goes in to making a truly fine image.
