sagging with age and the weight of the snow will not help either. Such a sad way to go but nevertheless leaving a memory for someone, Mike. A dear shot.

Mike Lee replied:

Thank you, Sabina! Alas, high winds last year finished her off and she's just a pile of rubble now.

Artist's Description

This dilapidated old building (looks like it may have been a cabin or small ranch house) catches my eye every time I drive by it. It sits on ranch land near my home in Lassen County, California, USA. I’ve tried to photograph it many times but never been all that pleased with the results as it doesn’t always stand out from the background and surroundings most of the time. However, with a light dusting of snow giving it contrast against the large bush in the background it seems to work much better. It doesn’t look like it’ll stand all that much longer (although buildings generally don’t want to come down so it may stay somewhat upright for a good long while or maybe only until the next wind gust). I’m glad I got at least one image of it that I like.

About Mike Lee

Mike Lee

First of all, thank you for stopping by my little gallery. Whether you're a fellow artist, potential buyer, or a casual observer, I'm glad something made you want to take a look at my work. I've appreciated fine photography of all types for as long as I remember. I suspect it is at least partially hereditary as my parents met while each was involved in photographic pursuits for the US Navy (mom in the darkroom and dad in the field). Since my first instant film camera as an adolescent, I've always had a passion for photography and a real appreciation for what goes in to making a truly fine image. In 2018 I was able to retire from a professional career that provided a good livelihood for my family but, if I'm honest, left much to be...
