This image captures a moody scene on Antelope Lake in Plumas County, California. In this neck of the woods it is very common to get a cold snap just after Memorial Day. This period has come to be known by many as “Junuary” and it can make our lakes look very moody indeed. By that time of year, the water has warmed significantly, making for some rather dramatic fog on the water in the early morning hour as the freezing air hits the warmer water. I took this shot just as the sun broke through some low clouds and lit this little island on the lake nicely amid the low fog.
First of all, thank you for stopping by my little gallery. Whether you're a fellow artist, potential buyer, or a casual observer, I'm glad something made you want to take a look at my work. I've appreciated fine photography of all types for as long as I remember. I suspect it is at least partially hereditary as my parents met while each was involved in photographic pursuits for the US Navy (mom in the darkroom and dad in the field). Since my first instant film camera as an adolescent, I've always had a passion for photography and a real appreciation for what goes in to making a truly fine image.
