This image captures the majestic Whiskeytown Falls on Crystal Creek in Shasta County California near Whiskeytown Lake. On this November morning I was blessed to have the place to myself to just admire the 220 foot silky cascade. The day was a bit overcast and this area sits in a deep canyon that stays deeply shaded until the sun is fairly high in the sky so it’s tough to get that beautiful golden light photographers love for color nature photography so I was thinking black and white on this one from the outset and I think the moody monochrome treatment works well.
