Artist's Description

There are several signs telling folks not to walk out on the jetty that sits between Battery Point and the Crescent Harbor in Crescent City California. Indeed, people have been killed or seriously injured by the rough surf that slams into (and sometimes OVER) that breakwater. Still, lots of people like to take a stroll out on it and at least a half dozen were walking on it while we were there. At least the tide was receding and very near low tide, somewhat reducing the risk (I suppose) when I captured this frame. No less than half a dozen people were strolling out on the road atop the breakwater at the time.

While I rarely leave humans in my photos, I think the solitary walker in this shot adds to the story, thereby saving him or her from being zapped in to digital oblivion in Photoshop.

I used my full spectrum converted camera fitted with my 830 nanometer near infrared filter to capture this image.

About Mike Lee

Mike Lee

Hello, my name is Mike Lee, and I am a landscape and nature photographer based in Janesville, California. Photography has been a passion of mine for many years, and since retiring from my first career in 2018 I've decided to make photographic art that all-too-important next chapter. Through my lens, I aim to share the landscapes, wildlife, and stunning moments that I encounter in Northern California and beyond. I've always had an appreciation for nature, and living in such a beautiful and diverse area has provided me with endless inspiration. From the towering Sierra Nevada mountains to the serene valleys and forests, I find myself constantly in awe of the world around me. My photography is an attempt to preserve and share these...
