Description
I'm not 100% versed on the specific meaning of all otter looks but I think this one means, "Come on in. The water's fine." Of course, it could also mean, "I'll try to bite your leg off if you come closer," so I didn't.
This river otter is one of a group of four that I spent some time watching and photographing at Lake Almanor in Plumas County, California, USA. There was an bit of open water between sheets of ice adjacent to the causeway where Highway 36 crosses the lake and they seemed to like it there.

Ohhhh...I love otters and this is wonderful! I thought he was saying "the water's fine, and bring me a fish!" Great shot!

Thank you, Jennifer! Judging from the carcass one was swimming with before I got set up that day, I think they were doing just fine without my help though :)
