Description
This image captures three T-34 Mentor trainer aircraft passing overhead. The aircraft where part of a demonstration group that performed at the Benton Air Faire at Benton Air Park in Redding California, USA on October 16, 2021.
The T-34 Mentor was the brainchild of Walter Beech, founder of Beech aircraft corporation, which is today known as Beechcraft, a subsidiary of Textron Aviation. The original models were made in the 1950’s and powered by 6 cylinder Contenental engines making just under 300 horsepowers. In the 1970’s and 1980’s a turboprop version was also produced.
While they certainly are not the high performance aircraft that many WWII fighters were, they stil have that wonderful nostalgic military aircraft look and feel about them and they have certainly played a key role in American military aviation.
