I captured this image on a rainy autumn visit to the Dunsmuir area of Shasta County. This shot shows the base of Sweetbriar Falls, a tiny but picturesque little cascade just off the Sacramento River.
This hidden gem is known for its lush, moss-covered surroundings and tranquil atmosphere, making it a favorite spot for nature lovers and photographers. The falls cascade over a rocky ledge into a clear pool, creating a serene and scenic retreat.

Sweetbriar Falls is easily accessible, located just off Interstate 5 near the small community of Sweetbriar. Despite its proximity to the highway, the falls feel secluded and peaceful. The area is rich in biodiversity, with ferns, wildflowers, and towering evergreens adding to its beauty.
