Stunning shot!

Sabina Pamfili

Sabina Pamfili

would love to see the shack up closer. It looks haunting against the golden sky. Great photography, Mike.

Mike Lee replied:

Thank you very much, Sabina! It's out on a private ranch so it takes a long telephoto to get this "close."

This is my kind of scene. I love old buildings like this and with the lighting and time of day the feeling is intensified. Wonderful work Mike. F/L.

Thank you, Randy!

Artist's Description

Old decaying cabin on a large cattle ranch in the Willow Creek Valley; Lassen County, California, USA. I captured this image during a November sunrise and almost called it "f11 at 11f” in reference to the lens aperture and ambient air temperature. It was very chilly indeed!

I suspect it is at least partially hereditary as my parents met while each was involved in photographic pursuits for the US Navy (mom in the darkroom and dad in the field). Since my first instant film camera as an adolescent, I've always had a passion for photography and a real appreciation for what goes in to making a truly fine image. In 2018 I was able to retire from a professional career that provided a good livelihood for my family but, if I'm honest, left much to be...
