Description
Mountain Meadows Reservoir, known locally as Walker Lake, is a shallow manmade impoundment of just under 6000 surface acres. It is situated in Lassen County, California, USA, near the community of Westwood. It is managed by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company and is a popular destination for local anglers and water fowl hunters.
I took a walk along the shore early on a December morning when heavy freezing fog had set in to most of the region. I captured this image looking across the lake at some of the many stumps that remain from before the lake was flooded. I used a long exposure to flatten even the smallest ripple out of the water surface to enhance the calm feeling I had as the only human in sight on this cold but beautiful winter morning.
