This is a beauty, Mike! I have a collection of the old Speed Graphlex cameras. My dad was a news photographer back in the 40s-60s and it was his camera of choice. Adding this to my favs cuz it is!!

Mike Lee replied:

Thank you very much, Rene!

My daily shooter. I have some grafmatic backs that make life easier. Why the PC terminal? Kodak Supermatic shutters should have a PC terminal already. There are also cables from two prong to PC

Mike Lee replied:

It was something the guy my mom bought it from did. I have no idea why and don't know enough about these things to even speculate. I've shot 4 frames with it just to make sure it worked back when my daughter had a darkroom class.

Artist's Description

Something a bit different for me; this is an image of my old Crown Graphic 4X5 press camera. My research on the serial number puts it at around a 1950 vintage. She’s fully functional, although I’ve only ever shot 4 frames with it to verify it worked after I inherited it from my mother. It would get shot a great deal more if I knew anyone with a darkroom. Aficionados of these old classics will notice that this one’s been modified with an adapter for a non-standard flash.

About Mike Lee

Mike Lee

First of all, thank you for stopping by my little gallery. Whether you're a fellow artist, potential buyer, or a casual observer, I'm glad something made you want to take a look at my work. I've appreciated fine photography of all types for as long as I remember. I suspect it is at least partially hereditary as my parents met while each was involved in photographic pursuits for the US Navy (mom in the darkroom and dad in the field). Since my first instant film camera as an adolescent, I've always had a passion for photography and a real appreciation for what goes in to making a truly fine image. In 2018 I was able to retire from a professional career that provided a good livelihood for my family but, if I'm honest, left much to be...
