On this "morning" I woke up WAY too early and couldn't get back to sleep. Therefore, I figured I may as well go somewhere for sunrise. Then, I sat in the house drinking coffee until about 30 minutes before sunrise and almost changed my mind. However, upon a quick look at an app I use to forecast cloud conditions, I saw that the forecast was for around percent high cloud obscurity in the sky. High clouds are the ones that best reflect the color of sunrises and sunsets. So, I headed out with no plan and almost no time to find foreground interest. The forecast didn't lie and there were nice high clouds to the east. I pulled into the Susanville Airport Hair Care and Tire Center (ok, it's not even big enough for the hair care and tires) and grabbed a shot of these two retired warriors that are displayed there (Bell UH-1 Iroquois, AKA Huey, and AH-1 Cobra). Hope someone likes it as I had to risk life and limb to stand in the middle of the street with all the morning airport traffic to get a long enough focal length to compress the clouds to the helos in the shot. (ok, it was 5:30AM and I didn't see another car). If you look closely enough on a larger screen you can see a few little "Easter egg" birdies perched around both helos.
