Artist's Description
If you're Shoshone you call it paγi̵nappi̵h. Otherwise, you may call it pogonip or just freezing fog. Whatever your vernacular, it is beautiful if you can stand the chill of being out in it. We can certainly get good doses of it in Lassen County California. I’ve found that juniperus trees (such as, well, junipers 😁) are well suited to catch a bunch of the frost when it forms. I thought this scene looked pretty neat at the north end of the Willow Creek Valley on this morning as the sun to camera-right battled to cut the fog; and perhaps add a second digit Fahrenheit to the ambient temperature (I think the car said it was right at 9 when I got out).
