Description
This old cabin is in a fairly remote part of Plumas County California. I hadnโt been there since the Beckworth Complex fires of 2021 had burned through this region. On this August 2023 afternoon I took a drive for the specific reason of seeing if it survived and was glad to see it had. As can be seen by the charred bark of the pine trees in the background, the fire very well could have burned the wonderful rustic old structure down. There is a pond very near here and a decent gravel road to the area so I am guessing an engine set up on the site to protect the historic old structure and probably maintain access to the water for the firefighting efforts. It is my hope as of this writing to get back soon and light paint the building under the Milky Way. On this day there was nice sunshine and white puffy clouds in the sky so I shot it with my full spectrum camera fitted with an 830 nanometer deep infrared filter for a nice high contrast black and white image.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
