Description
I captured this frame on a chilly foggy January morning in the Willow Creek Valley in Lassen County, California, USA. In this area, which is largely ranchland, the temperature and dew point frequently collide on cold winter mornings and the fog can get quite thick. I was struck by the drama it created around the wispy twigs of what I assume is some variety of willow next to the interesting lines created in the ice around this little wash that goes through a large pasture. As the scene lacked a great deal of tonality anyway I opted for black and white processing to showcase the wonderful mood, textures and lines.

That tree looks like a scraggly old beard brush. What a catch in this wonderful picture, Mike.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
