Description
While camping at Blue Lake in Lassen County California, I took a morning stroll down the water’s edge. I sat on the shore in a pretty spot, sipped coffee, and just enjoyed the mountain morning for a bit. Before too long this merganser hen swam into view. I grabbed a number of frames of her as she stuck her head underwater looking for minnows to have for breakfast and dove a few times. After several minutes her hunt and travels took her pretty much past my location but for some reason she either decided she’d had enough of me or that the hunting may be better elsewhere and flew off toward the opposite end of the lake. I captured this frame as she began to break the surface in the wonderful morning golden light.
