Description
This image features Kings Creek in Lassen Volcanic National Park at the end of the Golden Hour. I hiked by this this scene a few hours earlier when the sun was higher and after taking a quick compass reading, really hoped there would be clouds and color in the sky at sunset. I was not disappointed. I stood there in that wonderful serenity until it was almost too dark to walk the last half mile back to my car. It was a wonderful evening I will never forget.
EDIT 2022:
I have now made it to the park this year. With heavy heart, I can confirm that last year's brutal beast known as the Dixie Fire hit this area hard. As this side of the park highway is still closed to access, I could only drive by on the road, I saw enough though to strongly suspect that every tree in this image has burned.
