Description
This image features the majestic Kings Creek Falls in Lassen Volcanic National Park on a late summer afternoon. This wonderful cascade requires a hike of a little over 3 miles round trip to view it. At a height of approximately 40 feet, it isn’t a mammoth falls by any means, but it is gorgeous to look upon due to the silky streaks created as the water flows over the rocks to continue on down Kings Creek.
The trail to and from the falls is of easy to moderate difficulty and has historically been an absolutely gorgeous hike to take. In 2021, the Dixie Fire burned through much of the park, including this area, and I’ve yet to visit the park to see how this lovely area fared, although I understand much of the railings at the edge of the trail were destroyed. Hopefully, the damage wasn’t too severe, as it is one of my favorite areas within my “home” national park.
I also offer this scene in a horizontal orientation elsewhere on my page.
EDIT 2023
Sadly, this area was absolutely ravaged by the devastating Dixie Fire of 2021 and will need a great deal of time to recover.

Thank you very much, Adrienne! I'm already seeing a great deal of wildflower beauty in many of the burned areas so the recovery is already under way.

WOW, Mike, what a beautiful scene. Your setting to capture the waterfall with such a wispy look is stunning. I understand your sadness from the Dixie Fire devastation. Forests have a way of coming back and will be beautiful as before.
