Artist's Description

Abandoned ranch house in Jess Valley, Modoc County, California, USA. This old house always catches my eye as I drive by it but the lighting around it is almost always very challenging, due either to harsh high noon light or harsh late day shadows from steep wooded terrain at the valley's edge. On this particular day, smoke from a near by wild fire took care of the shadows in late afternoon and I was able to get a good exposure of the building.
