Description
One of the selling points for buying my old house was the two big beautiful California Black Oaks in the yard. One of the effects of said trees is that lots of local wildlife utilizes them in varying ways. One of them has a crack in it that chickadees sometimes nest in, woodpeckers use them as feeding and occasionally nesting grounds, and we have quite the population of gray squirrels. I admit to spending many hours over the years I’ve lived at this address watching their antics which can be quite entertaining at times. This one was quite busy digging in the snow for the bounty the oaks dropped before the snow fall (anyone familiar with these trees is aware their acorns are fairly large). He/she was even nice enough to acorn hunt in some fairly decent light in a spot where I could cut all my background clutter out of the shot.
