The Hog Fire Lassen County, Northern California, USA shot just after it started on 7/18/20 in the late afternoon from near the north shore of Eagle Lake. I thought the dry cracked earth resulting from the lake being low was symbolic of the dry conditions that have fueled the blaze and others around the state. The fire quickly exploded to over 9000 acres and threatened homes, resulting in the evacuation of one community. This image is dedicated to all the wonderful people who put their lives on the line and work long hours to bring these blazes under control and all proceeds from any sales of this image will go to charity related to helping fire victims (California Fire Foundation, Red Cross, etc, based upon current assessment of need).

Since my first instant film camera as an adolescent, I've always had a passion for photography and a real appreciation for what goes in to making a truly fine image. In 2018 I was able to retire from a professional career that provided a good livelihood for my family but, if I'm honest, left much to be...
