I captured this image in the early morning hours on Hat Creek, just downstream of the aptly named Paradise Meadow in Lassen Volcanic National Park in Northern California. In the early morning hour, I had the whole trail to myself, never seeing another soul, with my only real obstacle being the green fir cones that the large population of pine squirrels was trying to drop on my head in the denser wooded areas as they squeaked their displeasure at my presence. It was a wonderful hike that, as a longtime annual pass holder for the park, I’d yet to do.
𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘩𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦.
