Artist's Description
Gold Lake in Plumas County California is the largest lake in an area known as the Lakes Basin. As the name implies, the area has many lakes of varying sizes and in varying settings from fairly deeply wooded areas (predominately coniferous trees here) to basins amid rocky bluffs. The lake is popular with all sorts of water enthusiasts including water skiers, kayakers, paddle boarders, and anglers. The latter chase both rainbow and brown trout, kokanee, and lake trout (we call them Mackinaw in these parts).
I captured this frame just a short morning walk from my spot in the Gold Lake Campground which served as home base for 4 days of exploring the area in August 2023.
