Description
I captured this image on a hike on the network of trails that meander along in the area of a ridge known as Bald Mountain in Lassen County, California, USA. The area is high desert, just above 4000 feet in elevation, and quite arid. Much of the year it is covered in dry grass, sage brush, and rocks with sparcely spaced juniper trees. However, it can be quite beautiful for a brief period on the spring when wildflowers like the lupines and balsam root bloom.
