Description
This is a bit of a “re-work” of an older image of the Old Cottonwood Church near Havre Montana. I liked the original well enough but decided I could improve it with a few tweaks and a 4X5 crop. I was in a very emotional state when I captured the image as an hour or so earlier I’d spread my mother’s ashes on the bank of the Milk River, which she always had an affinity for. I initially drove right by this wonderful old structure, not really in the mood to do any photography at the time. I had certainly noticed it though standing there in some pretty nice mid-morning light, and a mile up the road realized I wouldn’t likely be back any time soon. Plus, my mom, a photographic hobbyist herself, would have wanted me to grab an image so I made a U-turn.
The Montana prairie is definitely somewhere I’d like to get back to one day and if I ever do, I’ll have to check in and see if this beautiful piece of history still stands.

You did amazing work on this Mike! It is a striking b&w capture and image! A story behind it, as our imagination soars as wide and open as the land it is on, straight up to the big open sky. Must be beautiful out there, I can't imagine, here it is so crowded everywhere.
