Artist's Description
My lovely bride and I took a May camping trip to an area known as Kyburz Flat between Sierraville and Truckee, California, off State Route 89. It was our first time camping there but likely won't be our last. The area is a large marsh and meadow in a bit of a high valley at 6000ish feet elevation and is home to a large variety of wildlife and is just a generally pretty place to park a camp trailer for a few days. We woke up our first morning in camp to 28 degrees and very nearly 100 percent humidity courtesy of both the marsh and some rainfall the previous day. This made for some quite foggy/moody conditions for a morning walk. I carried my full-spectrum camera along as we went out exploring a bit. I grabbed this shot on the way back to camp as the sun was just beginning to win the battle and cut through the fog at about 7 AM. I used my 720-nanometer near-infrared filter, taking advantage of the infrared energy's ability to cut through haze just a bit better than normal visible light d...
