Description
I took a morning drive to Lake Almanor (Plumas County, California, USA) on a nice brisk January morning hoping to catch a pretty sunrise and it did not disappoint. The ambient air temp was 17 degrees Fahrenheit and the dew point was clearly very close to that at there was wonderful fog all around the lake and my lens hood had lots of lovely ice crystals on it by the time I finished shooting. The first thing I saw when I got out of the car on the west end of the causeway was this little stand of frosty bare trees against all that fog with wonderful clouds and tones in the sky behind. I thought it made a beautiful scene and the still photo makes it seem as if it’s some remote winter wonderland somewhere as it lacks the sound of all the early morning logging trucks passing by to wherever they were headed to salvage log the savage Dixie Fire that ravaged the region in the previous summer (but mercifully spared Chester and most of the landscape immediately around the lake, thanks to some heroic efforts by our amazing firefighters).
