Description
This image captures a small group of snow geese in early post dawn light. The birds were flying near Thompson Peak Lassen County, California, USA. They had likely just taken off from the shores of nearby Honey Lake, a large alkali flat at the bottom of the Honey Lake Valley in which Lassen County sits. While Honey Lake can be completely dry during the summer months, it always has some water in winter and migrating waterfowl frequently rest in the fields that surround it.
