Description
The Skedaddle Mountains are a small range in the southeastern corner of Lassen County. They get as high as 7600ish feet at the highest point (Hot Springs Peak). The area is quite stark and arid; the absolute epitome of “high desert.” However, there are several springs located throughout the area providing much needed water for wildlife like pronghorns, wild horses and burros, as well as mule deer, to include some absolute trophy bucks for hunters who can draw the right tag and endure the terrain.
On this December late afternoon, while looking for a place to watch the moon rise, the low warm light on this section off the Wendel Road between the defunct communities of Amedee California and Flannigan Nevada caught my eye so I pulled over and grabbed an impromptu panorama.
