Artist's Description

The plume from the Dixie Fire of 2021 billowing smoke as seen from nearby Deer Creek. This brutal fire burned from mid July to well into October. It burned nearly a million acres and did an estimated 1.5 billion dollars in damage in 5 different large California Counties. The most devastating was the utter destruction of the town of Greenville in Plumas County which I travel through frequently. This fire got to within just over a mile of my home forcing my wife and I to evacuate for 2 weeks. Thankfully for us, the amazing folks who battle these blazes were able to keep it from entering our small community.

In 2018 I was able to retire from a professional career that provided a good livelihood for my family but, if I'm honest, left much to be...
