Artist's Description
This run down old house/cabin is one of several old abandoned structures in my local area that I’m enamored with. This one is fairly challenging to get good photos of due to its position out in a privately owned field, a fair bit from the road. I caught it on this late afternoon just as the sun was about to dip below the horizon behind me. Within a minute of capturing this image, the structure was in complete shadow. I liked the way that low sun played not only off the building but off the Skedaddle Mountains several miles off in the distance. “The Skedaddles” as we know them around these parts, are a small group of mountains, the tallest of which being Hot Springs Peak, in eastern Lassen County (California USA), not too far from the Nevada line. As can be seen, they are rather stark as the area is very much high desert. However, they can have some wonderful texture about them in the right light. About Mike Lee
Official Website:tpeakphotos.art Hello, my name is Mike Lee, and I am a landscape and nature photographer based in Janesville, California. Photography has been a passion of mine for many years, and since retiring from my first career in 2018 I've decided to make photographic art that all-too-important next chapter. Through my lens, I aim to share the landscapes, wildlife, and stunning moments that I encounter in Northern California and beyond. Gorgeous glowing capture of this magnificent place! I love this one! The perfect magic light on the cabin and the mountain, the powerful composition, the repeating shapes of mountain peak, tree, and cabin roof — everything is irresistible! As is your description with its oh so sad postscript! F+
