Most Lassen County California locals will know that the Bizz Johnson trail is part of the Rails to Trails Conservancy (railstotrails.org) and runs about 25 miles from Susanville to Westwood California using the rail grade left behind by the long defunct Fernley and Lassen Branch of the Southern Pacific Railroad. It travels though the beautiful Susan River Canyon, through a couple tunnels and over several old rail bridges. Iβve always liked the view from this spot looking back toward one of those bridges. On this crisp November morning I caught it after a dusting of snow. I even saw 3 pairs of beautiful wood ducks in this pool but, they unfortunately flew away before I could get a good photo.
