Description
The galactic core of our wonderful Milky Way Galaxy behind a few boulders near the shore of Antelope Lake in Plumas County, California, USA in the pre-dawn hours of a chilly spring morning. When I photographed this scene the temperature was just meeting the dew point (in the mid 20โs Fahrenheit) and I literally watched fog begin forming as I โlight paintedโ the foreground rocks with my flashlight. The low wispy fog can just be seen in the image beyond the stars reflecting off the water between the rocks. The golden glow on the horizon beyond the trees are the northern California towns of Portola (left) and Quincy (right).
